About Final Grade Calculator
Final Grade Calculator helps students answer two questions: what score is needed on a final exam to reach a target course grade, and what overall grade results after taking the final.
How It Works
Both modes use standard weighted-average mathematics. Enter three percentages and select Calculate. Optional result details include the formula, exam scenarios and a what-if slider. Saved calculations are available in an expandable history section. It requires your current non-final course average and the final exam weight from your syllabus.
How Calculations Are Verified
The formulas can be checked by substituting the required exam score back into the overall grade equation. For example, 85% coursework with a 40% final scored at 97.5% gives 90% overall: 85 × 0.60 + 97.5 × 0.40 = 90.
Read the methodology, assumptions and test cases. Results display up to two decimal places. Extra credit, dropped assignments and unfinished coursework require additional information and are not modeled here.
Privacy and Local History
Calculations run in your browser without an account. Up to 10 records and your theme preference are stored locally when available. Use Clear all to remove history. A shared link contains grades and exam weight. Google Analytics is installed on the homepage; see the privacy policy for details.
